Kackar Mountain has become popular as one of the most beautiful hiking/trekking route in the world. Rising above the Black Sea with a 3,937 m (12,917 ft), Kackar attracts professional hikers and tourists all around the world for both natural beauty and amazing routes through its peak. Besides reaching to highest summit, crossing route from Artvin side to Rize side is also enjoyable for the tourists. The hiking route is enjoyable and mid-level difficulty. You will not only enjoy hiking through beautiful nature but also experience local highland life of Black Sea. Please note that we run this tour just for professional hikers. Summit part of this tour is difficult and requires professional background. We may change the tour route and program based on weather conditions. Please contact us before boking this tour.

What to expect

  1. Day 1

    Welcome Black Sea, Discover Trabzon

    We welcome you at Trabzon Airport.

  2. We welcome you at Trabzon Airport. From the airport we will directly drive to Maçka to visit Sumela Monastery located in Altınerde Valley National Park, about 50 km from Trabzon, on the steep cliff of the Zigana Mountains. This stunning Greek Orthodox monastery is also known as the Virgin Mary (Meryemana). Sumela Monastery was built in 4th century AD and is one of the oldest monasteries in the Christian world.

  5. Day 2

    From Trabzon to Artvin, Yusufeli, Olgunlar

    Today, we will drive to Olgunlar Highland at an elevation 2200 m. (Yusufeli; Artvin). On our way we will enjoy beautiful landscape: forests, rivers, and crystals clear lakes. When we reach our hotel, we will have rest to be ready for next day and our hiking tour.

  6. Day 3

    Hiking: Olgunlar-Nasdaf-Dilberdüzü

    We will have a nice breakfast and then we will pack our bags on mules and start to hike from Olgunlar to Dilberdüzü.

  7. Hike to Dilber Düzü camping site. On our way we will stop by Nastaf Highland at 2400m. Then we will reach to campsite at Dilberdüzü at 2900m. We will set our tents at the campsite and have a lunch. Then we will have time to hike around and enjoy the beauty of the nature. At the evening we will have dinner prepared by our cooking staff.

  8. Day 4

    Hiking from Dilberdüzü, through Deniz Gölü, to Kackar Peak

    We will get up very early and have a quick breakfast. Then we take our lunch boxes and personal equipment and start our adventure about 5:00 am in the early morning. After 45 min walking we should reach beautiful Deniz Gölü (Sea Lake) at 3450 m. From the lake we will continue our ascent to the top of Mount Kackar (3937 m), the highest point of Kackar Range. After reaching the Kackar Peak we will spend 30-40 minutes there, take pictures and rest. Then, we will slowly descent to Dilberdüzü for camping.

  9. Day 5

    Dilberdüdü-Olgunlar-Trabzon Airport

    In the morning, hike from Dilberdüzü to Olgunlar.

  10. In the afternoon, drive to Trabzon Airport. Take an evening flight to fly out.
