Good but could be Great !

+ Great location and wonderful property and staff. Key that customers understand the apartments are in a separate building a 5 minute walk away. But also the apartments don't have a lift - if this was made clearer on the website and before we booked, it would have been a 5* experience. Loved the welcome drinks and the tour of their own wine cellar and wines they produce themselves. Excellent staff and concierge whats app service. Some issues with WiFi performance during our stay, No dedicated car park but the Cardosas parking 2 min walk away works well and the hotel has a preferred rate.

A Stylish and Characterful Hotel in the Heart of Porto

+ Torel 1884 is a beautiful boutique hotel and an excellent choice for anyone wishing to explore Porto on foot. Its location is undoubtedly one of its greatest strengths. Situated in the historic centre, just a few minutes from São Bento Station, the Cathedral, Rua das Flores and Avenida dos Aliados, it provides the perfect base from which to discover the city. The hotel occupies a historic building that once housed a bank, and the transformation has been carried out with remarkable taste. Large windows, impressive vaulted ceilings and carefully selected designer furnishings create an atmosphere of elegance and sophistication throughout the property. The common areas are equally attractive and inviting. We particularly appreciated the top-floor lounge, where guests can prepare their own cocktail or enjoy a glass of Port in a relaxed and refined setting. It is a thoughtful feature that gives the hotel a distinctive personality. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The quality of the furnishings and attention to detail were evident throughout. One aspect worth mentioning is that there is no door separating the washbasin area from the bedroom. While visually appealing and consistent with the design concept of the hotel, it may be somewhat inconvenient when one guest wishes to sleep while the other is getting ready in the morning. Another point that future guests may wish to consider concerns the windows. They are large, elegant and perfectly suited to the character of the building, but they do not provide complete sound insulation. Rooms overlooking the city enjoy attractive views and a wonderful sense of place, but they also receive some of the noise associated with a lively historic centre. The hotel thoughtfully provides earplugs, which some guests may find useful. Breakfast is relatively simple but more than sufficient, particularly for guests accustomed to a typical Italian breakfast. The quality of the products is good and the service is efficient. Service throughout our stay was consistently friendly, welcoming and helpful. Rather than formal luxury, the atmosphere could perhaps be described as pleasantly casual, which suited both the hotel and the city very well. Room cleanliness was excellent throughout our stay. Overall, Torel 1884 combines a prime location, striking design and genuine hospitality. It is a hotel full of character, and we would gladly choose it again for a future visit to Porto.

+ This is one of the best hotels we’ve stayed at the service is excellent all the team from concierge to restaurant and housekeeping have been extremely helpful and very friendly Have to mention a special thank you to Pedro, Luis and Joanna for their help sorting out excursions and giving advice on eating out with plenty of recommendations The restaurant staff were very helpful accommodating our requests and were always polite and friendly no matter how busy the service This hotel and in particular the apartments are situated right in the heart of Porto. We stayed in superior apartment and could sit in the balcony with a glass of port in the evening people watching and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere The hotel and staff are faultless Thank you
